August 6, 1982 Mr. Peter Cheney, City Manager Ci ty of Boynton Beach 120 Northeast 2 Avenue Post Office Box 310 Boynton Beach, Fl. 33435 Dear M~ ye.J.e.r In an earlier letter, I indicated that from time to time we would communicate to you information which we believe will be of interest concerning Motorola Inc. I am pleased at this time to send you the two attached documents on Motorola and its plans in Florida. The first press release provides information on Motorola's second quarter financial performance. In commenting on the results, William J. Weisz, Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, noted that "We experienced reduced profit margin in the quarter on modest sales growth as we continued planned investments in technology, market development and fixed assets in strategic areas to meet future opportunities." One example of this commitment to key programs is Motorola's new manufacturing- administration complex in Boynton Beach. As the second press release indicates, construction on this important new facility is proceeding on schedule, and we hope to be moving portions of our Paging Division operations into Boynton Beach within a year. This new facility will enable our rapidly growing Florida businesses to meet and take advantage of future opportunities. If you have any questions or would like any additional information, please feel free to contact me.
