Dear Mr. Olsen:
Please be advised that the Planning and Zoning Division has conducted the necessary
review to determine if the above-referenced petition is consistent with the City's
Comprehensive Plan.
The City of Boynton Beach Comprehensive Plan does not prohibit the construction of
seawalls per se, as long as all relevant federal, state and local coastal requirements are
met, and any impacts upon existing dunes and vegetation are properly mitigated. If these
coastal management concerns are addressed, then this request would be consistent with
the City's Comprehensive Plan.
I trust I have adequately responded to this request from the Department of Environmental
Protection; however, should you need additional information, please contact this office.

Pursuant to our telephone discussion earlier this week, we continue to require a
local government letter for purposes of completing the file for DEP Application No. PB-558
(see attached). The exact verbiage is described by Item 9.

It is important to note that I have moved the southern end of the proposed seawall
landward 2 to 3 feet for purposes of ensuring that it does not violate the 60' Right-of-Way ~
for "Old Ocean Blvd". This should make your letter easier to issue since no caveats are now \
required. Due to the emergency nature of the work under consideration, we do not want
to take a chance that we could be legally hindered by the old Right of Way, irrespective of
its obvious impracticality.
Your expeditious assistance in rendering the requisite letter will be appreciated.
Due to vulnerability of the two (2) seawardmost buildings at St. Andrews Oceanfront
Condominiums during the 1997 Hurricane season, time is of the essence in this matter.
