RE: ABC Liquors Fino Wine & Spirits
Boynton Beach Stor-e
Dear Mike:
In following with recent treI1ds, the proposed ABC Fine Wine & Spirits store facility is
larger than many of the stores constructed in the past. New stores are planned to provide
a more open effect with wider shopping aisles and sufticient room for specialty item
displays. The growing populaTity of cigar humidors and market pressure to maintain a
'Nell stocked wine colJection create a higher need for floor area, Large cooler and stock
room facilities are necessary to cffectively.manage store inventory.
ABC Liquors, Inc. constructs a variety of store concepts to meet the needs of the market.
In addition to retail sales, several stores have attached loul1ges for the on*premisc
consumption of alcoholic beverages. Other store variations include drivc-thru
convenience facilities, expanded wine collections and wine chillers, and elaborate cigar
humidors.
ABC currently operates approximately 170 store locations throughout the State of
Florida. An essential component to their business operation is providing ample parking
to store patrons. Based on inforn'ation provided by ABC Liquors, Inc. the 40 parking
spaces proposed for the new store is more than sufficient to accommodate the parking
demand for the proposed store locution. Presented below is a representative list of stores
and their respective parking capacily. 1bcstl stores do not include a lounge for 011-
premise consumption of alcoholic beverages, similar to the proposed Boynton Beach
store.

A trame study was performed for Store 25 in Winter Park, Florida. The total ADT was
951. Store 25 has double ingress/egress due to a double fi'olltage lot. Pass-thru reduction
was not considered, thus ~jving a higher factor of safety.
Bascd on ADT, Store 25 generates 9SlI10.033=94.79 trips per 1000 gsf. This translates
to a sustainable estimated ADT of 9.0 x 94,79 = 853 ADT.
Another correlation is the number of parking spaces per trip (ADT). Store 25 generates
34 spacesl 951 "" .036 spaces per trlp. Therefore, the proposed Boynton Beach store
would require 853 x .036 "" 30.49 spaces. ABC is proposing 40 spaces for the Boynton
Beach store.
The Boynton Beach Land Development Code has approximately 24 different codes for
off-street parking but docs not have a specific code for package establishments.
UnfOliunately, the proposed use (liquor store) docs not readily fall into any of the uses
presented ill the table and would therefore fall under the default classification of "Retail
Establishments not Listed Elsewhere".
DRlvlP has determined, based on the above information, the proposed parking is adequate
for this spcciflc use.
Should there be any questions, please do not hesitate to call
Sincerely,
d~ K~J!f)
