RE: AGENDA ITEM - Superior Foods
A sign for Superior Foods is included for approval on the agenda
for the City Commission meeting on October 16, 1990; under
Development Plans: C. Consent Agenda. The applicant requested
the Downtown Review Board to table this item for the September
Planning & Zoning Board meeting. At the October meeting, the
Board removed this item from the table and, with no applicant
participation, approved the sign. The applicant told our Site
Development Division that he did not wish approval for the sign;
therefore, he never submitted for Community Appearance Board
approval.
Currently, we have a letter in hand from the applicant,
requesting the cancellation of any review for this sign. At this
time, it is appropriate that this item be deleted from the
October 16th City Commission agenda.
If I can be of further assistance, please advise.

SIGN - SUPERIOR FOODS (WALL SIGN)
Upon review of the above mentioned project, the following
comments must be addressed in order to conform with Boynton Beach
City Codes:
.
1. All signage must comply with the City of Boynton Beach Sign
Codes.
2. Submit a completed Community Appearance Board Application
and three (3) sets of signage drawings (including color
sample of sign material) to the Site Development Division
of the Building Department prior to September 7, 1990 to be
considered at the September 17, 1990 Community Appearance
Board Meeting.
In order to facilitate the permitting proce~s, the following
information should be included with your documents submitted to
the Building Department for review and permitting:
1, Provide a windload statement on the plans from the designer
specifying that the sign will withstand windload pressures
of 50 P.S.F.
2. Total signage including window signs, all existing signage
plus new signage shall not exceed one (1) square foot of
signage for each one (1) lineal foot of tenant frontage
facing Federal Highway. Show existing and proposed signage
by identifying the location, color, width, and height of
all tenant signage,

1) The following must be compiled with:
a) Sign must comply with Chapter 21 of the City of Boynton Beach's
Code of Ordinances, including Section 21-14 (H) CBD and Section
21-21, "Obsolete signs to be removed."
b) Sign should comply with Central Business District Guidelines,
pages 34 & 35, items 3 thru 7, lISignage Guidelines." Red is
not one of the colors recommended in the CBD Guildines, page
29.
c) Site plan does not clearly indicate the following: Sign material
and construction detail.

for a parking lot variance from the agenda based on the City
Attorney's written legal opinion that the variance request
was improper.
2. At the request of the applicant, unanimously voted to table
the request for sign approval for Superior Foods to allow
the applicant time to negotiate with a potential purchaser.
