Robert Levy of Riverwalk is calling me to discuss the items from our meeting of April 29'h, and I
realize that I have not fulfilled my end of the deal. I need to speak with you concerning the
variance procedure which was denied "by default" because they failed to appear at the scheduled
P&D meeting, Would you please try to make this a priority, so that I can respond to him with
clear conscience, and without placing you in a compromising position??

Dear Planning Board Members:
I am writing this letter in opposition to the request of Riverwalk Plaza for a variance to allow them to
place a 6 foot high chain link fence instead of a 6 foot high concrete block buffer wall, which is
required.
At the present time there is an existing chain link fence that is broken, bent and in deplorable
condition which allows trash, garbage and unsightly debre' to be deposited on our adjoining
property. Installing another chain link fence would end up in the same condition within a few years.
This condition has existed too long. We have been sited, it has been costly to us, I keep
maintenance people on call to clean it up, all hoping that this situation would be remedied. I have
been told on numerous occasions that your ordinance regarding this matter would be complied
with. I have had many years myself dealing with ordinances in my home town and our council has
found that once you grant a variance on a good ordinance, you will find it will haunt you .
I hope that you will maintain the integrity of the ordinance and make them put up the wall, which
requirement they were aware of when they re-developed the property.

Dear Ms, Haden:
We are herewith submitting this variance request for Riverwalk Plaza, formally known
as Causeway Square.
The amended community appearance standards now provide for the opportunity to
offer the convenience of a drive-in window in building facades facing on public streets.
At Riverwalk Plaza, it is our intent to install a drive-in or drive-up window in the western
elevation of the existing Walgreens Drug Store, the elevation facing U.S. Highway #1,
This window will serve the people in the community in need of prescription drugs at
anytime of the day or night. Because this window will face a public street, the
standards require certain architectural features among them being the requirement for
pedestrian level windows.
This element has caused serious security concerns for the tenant who has requested
that we seek relief from this provision, Accordingly, we request a variance which will
allow for the approval of the elevations as submitted herewith.
We are sensitive to the community's concern for the appearance of this and other
commercial properties. As an expression of this concern, the plan provides for a
significant increase in the landscape area along this building elevation both adjacent to
the building and next to the right of way.
