Boynton Beach Boulevard P.O. Box 310 Boynton Beach, FL 33425-0310 December 6, 2000 Re: Banana Boat Restaurant Renovation Proj: 2000-44 Dear Mr. Rumpf, I am contacting you regarding the above referenced project. Specifically, the site lighting at the existing parking lot. Our office has been contacted by the builder stating that the electrical inspector, Sam Dillingham, would not sign off on this project until our office produced site photometrics, showing that we meet all city codes for exterior lighting. I want to point out that as agreed upon as far back as the pre-application meeting on April 13, 1999, this is a minor modification to an existing building. Because of that and the unique nature of the site, there are several areas that we were not required to bring up to present day codes. One was the parking, second was the amount of landscaping, and the third is the site lighting. There will be a fair amount of light spilling onto our site from the matching light poles along the new bridge. This, along with the fact that we have added two new light poles and sixteen new fixtures at the front of the building should more than satisfy what was originally agreed upon. In the meantime, I have called Tim Large, the permitting administrator, and apprised him of this situation. He has requested confirmation from your office before the City can provide a final sign off on this project. If you would, please contact him to discuss and resolve this matter. Thank you in advance for your co-operation. 2060 NW Boca Raton Blvd., Suite #2 . Boca Raton, Florida 33431 . (561) 392-3848 . As shown on the drawings provided, we are proposing to enlarge the entry element and extend a covered pedestrian access around to the north side ofthe building. Because of the existing grade difference, this will allow us to have handicapped access to the front doors as well as the covered deck seating area behind the restaurant We are proposing to demolish the existing 400 sq. ft. storage building across the parking lot on the west side of the property. This space would then be "added" to the existing building with a new 400 sq. ft storage addition. In conjunction with this area, the existing 230 sq. ft. walk in cooler, which is exposed to view from the exterior, would be incorporated inside the building to eliminate the 'eyesore' that it is currently. Thirdly, we are proposing to demolish the fenced in area on the west side of the property that contains the existing ice machines. As shown on the floor plans, we are proposing to contain these into a covered area on the north side of the building. Although this would t'e an open area, we are proposing a solid roof with wood louvered walls and gat<.., to screen and protect the machines. 2060 NW Boca Raton Blvd. . Boca Raton, FL 33431' (561) 392-3848' FAX (561) 392-5402 \ ,~tf. M C001011 \ Finally, as shown on the site plan, we are proposing to repave and stripe the existing parking lot. Currently, the existing parking lot with the exception of a minimal amount of perimeter landscaping covers the entire lot west of the restaurant. By re-striping this area, we can provide landscaping islands, areas for exterior site lighting, and a location for the dumpster enclosure that is away form the restaurant. If you should require any additional information regarding any of the proposed renovations, please let me know. Sincerely, ~QQn ""~ Joe Peterson Slattery & Root Architects, P.A.
