Grove Plaza Common Buffer - MMSP 00-024
4th revision (4-26-00)- landscape and irrigation improvements
To:
From:
Date:
April 27, 2000
The revision to the above design provides the following:
. Reduction in the quantity of trees per parcel (there are 6 parcels of various sizes) from 40 to
25 trees.
. Buffering the site immediately from the ground elevation to 10 feet in height.
. Buffering the site from elevation of 10 feet to elevation of 20 feet in height,
increasingly over the next 2-3 years.
. Buffering the proposed site rear roadway light fixtures over the next 1 year, by having the
planted Sabal Palms installed with fronds attached rather than hurricane cut.
. Comments placed on the revised plans indicating that the landscaping will be maintained in
an "informal" appearance allowing the hedge plants, shrubs and trees to increasingly buffer
the sites.
. Separation dimensions for the plantings on the revised plans.
I recommend approval of the revised plan (revision #4) as a minor site plan modifiction.

Dear Mr. Rumpf,
Attached please find 4 copies of the revised planting plan for the above referenced project for your review
and consideration of a minor amendment to the plan previously approved. The approved plan was
developed by my office with a misunderstanding of the buffer requirements, resulting in a substantially
higher number of trees than required and an installation cost far exceeding the owner's budget.
The changes made reflect a reduction in quantity for the shade trees species only, the shrubs, vines and
palm quantities are unchanged. The original plan designated 169 trees that would have one tree for every
6.2 linear feet of buffer while the code requires one tree for each 40 linear feet ( 26 trees). The attached
plan reflects one tree for every 8.75 linear feet for a total of 119 trees; this number is 4 times that which is
required by code and maintains a substantial buffer design through the substitution of certain, thin-
canopied species with others that will attain varied and larger canopies.
Thank you again for your consideration; please review the plans and call with any questions or comments.
Your timely response is appreciated so that we may remain on schedule with construction.

RE: Grove Plaza
If there were original comments that this document rectifies than it would clearly represent both the rectified plan and minor
modified plan, I would label it with both 4-digit codes and place it in the main sub~t file, The minor mod file can be left
with only the request letter and maybe a note referencing the rectified plan and theaafe, If there were no conditions of
approval than this should be kept separate from actual approved plan, Does this help?
Also, for your schedule, do you agree that we can place the Sammy Berry Site Plan on the May 23 agenda, placing it just
after first reading of the ordinance on May 16th and just before second reading on June 6th?
