CORRESPONDENCE DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT DivIsion of Planning and Zoning Bulent I. Kastarlak, NCARB Director Building Planning & Zoning Engineering Occupational License Community Redevelop1lU!nt December 30, 1998 Ms. Angela Usher School Board of Palm Beach County 3320 Forest Hill Blvd. SUite C331 West Palm Beach, FL 33406 Dear Ms. Usher Your letter dated December 22, 1998 documented all issues to be addressed by the County, as discussed at a meeting between the City'S Techmcal Review Committee (TRC) and representatives of the County School District. I need only to mdlcate or document the two city regulations, noted by members of the TRC, which may not be met due to dlffenng standards held by the Distnct. The two possible discrepancies mc1ude the following: A) The three (3) foot difference between the proposed parking lot back up distance of 24 feet and the city's 27 foot regulation, and B) The City's mimmum reqUirement for parkmg lot lighting IS one (1) foot candle. Although the Dlstnct is not reqUired to comply with local development regulations, for reasons related to safety, I trust an effort will be made to mimmlze the degree of inconsistency I again thank you and other mvolved representatives of the District for your time and support for our review of the planned hIgh school. I look forward to our contmued cooperative effort to complete this long awaited high school project. A small list of comments and questions are as follows: 1 To ensure safe and congestion-free traffic flow, signalization should be exercised to ~ coordinate time and coordmate all lights Within the Vlcimty of the school, including the , X vf/ ~ unmedlate SIgnal on Gateway Boulevard, the Motorola Signal, the signal at High Ridge Road, and the signal at the 1-95 overpass.
