Unfortunately the ordinance abandoning the existing easement does not clearly refer to the replacement easement. It is critical that the existing water main remain in service until the new main is completed so as to provide sufficient fire flow to the adjacent Safety Kleen property One way we can protect the City's rights in this matter is to include a motion in the approval delaying the recording of the abandonment until the new water main and easement are fully accepted In this way the 10' easement to be abandoned remains the easement of record! If this idea is not acceptable, then I suggest the ordinance be re-written to reflect the completion and acceptance of the replacement water main and easement.
