Clear, light medium, dark bronze or black
anodized finishes are available utilizing a
continuous coil" anodized process offering
excellent color consistency from piece to piece.
The above colors, as well as champagne,
burgundy, red, blue, yellow, gold and turquoise
are available by using a 'batch anodizing
procedure. Important note: due to shade
variations in the anodizing process, it is
recommended that the contractor work with the
architect or building owner to sort and install
products in the arrangement best suited to the
owner s preference. Metal-Era offers no
warranty on anodized finishes and will not be
held responsible for shade variations inherent to
the anodizing process.

Warranties
All Metal-Era products are warranted to be free
from defects in material and workmanship for a
period of five (5) years from date of shipment.
Anchor-lite systems are performance warranted
for fifteen (15) years against blow-off up to 95
M.P.H. or Hurricane Category I. At our option, we
will entertain requests for alternate product
warranties on a per-job basis. Product
modification may be required to adapt to a
project's geographic location, building height or
geometry. Liability is limited to the repair or
replacement of Metal-Era furnished materials
provided our printed installation instructions have
been followed. Twenty (201 year finish warranties
for standard coil-coated Kynar 500 colors are
available upon request. No other warranties
either expressed or implied, are applicable
unless so stated in writing.

SCOPE
A. This specification for the Butler-Cote
500FP coating system covers the preparation,
coating, physical characteristics and
manufacturer's warranty on the factory
applied exterior surface fInish.
1 Humidity Resistance at 1000F and 100%
R.H. in accordance with ASTM D-2247
2 Salt Spray Resistance at 5% Salt Fog per
AST~f B-1 1 "7
II. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
A. G-90 hot dipped galvanized steel shall be
given a controlled complex oxide chemical
conversion treatment.
3 Reverse Impact Resistance in accordance
with AST;\<l D-2"7894.
III. COATING
A. The material for Butler-Cote 500 FP coatings
shall be Fluropon a full-strength "0% fluo-
ropolymer (Kynar 500' & Hylar 5000-') finish.
4. Resistance to Accelerated Weathering
in an Atlas Model XW-R Dew Cycle
Weather-Ometer in accordance with
Asnf D-336I
5 Resistance to Dry Heat.
B After preparation of the steel, the exterior
exposed surface shall be precision coated
with primer and Fluropon color coat to a
dry fIlm thickness of 0 9 mil minimum.
6 Abrasion Resistance in accordance with
ASTM D-968

C. Interior exposed surfaces shall be coated
with polyester color coat.

dimension of steel sheet prior to forming of

IV PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
A. The physical characteristics of the exterior
coating shall provide resistance to failure
through cracking, checking, crazing, spot
ting or loss of adhesion.

over entire surface in accordance with
ASTM D-523

MEASUREMENTS
TREES: HEIGHT SHALL BE MEASURED FROM GROUND TO THE AVERAGE HEIGHT OF CANOPY. SPREAD SHALL BE MEASURED TO THE
END OF BRANCHING EQUALLY AROUND THE CROWN FROM THE CENTER OF THE TRUNK. MEASUREMENTS ARE NOT TO INCLUDE
ANY TERMINAL GROWTH. SINGLE TRUNK TREES SHALL BE FREE OF 'V' CROTCHES THAT COULD BE POINTS OF WEN< LIMB
STRUCTURE OR DISEASE INFESTATION.
SHRUBS: HEIGHT SHALL BE MEASURED FROM THE GROUND TO THE AVERAGE POINT WHERE MATURE PlANT GROWTH STOPS.
SPREAD SHALL BE MEASURED TO THE END OF BRANCHING EQUALLY AROUND THE SHRUB MASS. TERMINAL GROWTH NOT INGLUDED.
PALMS: CLEAR TRUNK (CT) SHALL BE MEASURED FROM THE GROUND AT TIME OF INSTALLATION TO THE POINT WHERE THE
MATURE AGED TRUNK JOINS THE IMMATURE OR GREEN PORTION OF THE TRUNK OR THE HEAD. OVERALL HEIGHT (OA) SHALL

COMMERCIAL FERTILIZER
TWO FERTILIZERS SHALL BIE USED IN ALL TYPES OF PlANTINGS, EXCEPT PALMS. GRANULAR FERTILIZER SHALL BE UNIFORM IN
COMPOSITION, DRY AND FREE FLOWING. THIS FERTILIZER SHALL BE DELIVERED TO THE SITE IN THE ORIGINAL UNOPENED BAGS
EACH BEARING THE MANUFACTURERS STATEMENT OF ANALYSIS, AND SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: 6% NITROGEN,
6% PHOSPHOROUS AND 6% POTASSIUM. TABLET FERTILIZER ("AGRIFORM' OR EQUAL) IN 21 GRAM SIZE SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING
REQUIREMENTS: 20% NITROGEN, 10% PHOSPHOROUS AND 5% POTASSIUM.
