Re: Fidelity Federal
Woolbright and Congress
Project No.: 890.16
Dear Mike:
As a follow up to our recent meeting, please accept this letter as a request for a Minor
Modification to the current approved Site Plan and Landscape Plan for the new Fidelity
Federal located at the northeast corner of Woolbright Road and Congress Avenue.
Specifically, the modification pertains to the freestanding sign located at the southwest
corner parcel. As indicated on the current rectified plans, the sign is currently approved
for 14 feet 2 inches in height and 64 square feet of sign face area. However, the sign is
approved to allow for a four-sided cube sign. The purpose of this request is to modify
the sign to allow for a double-faced freestanding sign with 64 square feet of sign face
area and an overall height of 14 feet. Therefore, we have revised the Site Plan (see
attached) to reflect a note calling out the proposed height and sign face area. Also, I
have attached a copy of the sign detail plans from Ferrin Signs.
As previously discussed, the bank has upgraded the landscaping substantially
throughout the site including the area surrounding the proposed freestanding sign. As
requested, our landscape architect has modified the landscape plan (see attached) to
provide more "bulk and color" around the base of the sign.
For your information, our signage contractor has submitted plans for the new sign to the
City's Building Department. For your reference, I have enclosed a sketch copy of the
new sign. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or require further
information.

RE. Fidelity Federal Sign
I have reviewed fax of the sign and only have two comments
1) The code currently limits portions of the sign to 20%, just confirm that the big "F" complies, and
2) Since it is still a pole sign I would require, at a minimum, that the new landscaping regulations, or a variation of them, be
applied to soften it. These are the regulations applicable to shopping center signs The base should consist of a minimum
of 2 colorful shrub species compatible with other landscaping, to be on a minimum of 3 sides and a minimum of 1
signature tree at the base The signature tree is intended to soften structure and provide color How about one small
flowering tree which is small and thick. Signature tree choices include Yellow Elder, Tibouchina granulosa or
Bouganvillea.
Lusia, this is the project that got sp approval with a 4 sided sign They will process a minor mod request to arrive at a
more code compliant sign and I am recommending these landscaping improvements to address the pole element. Please
forward any additional comments you may have I will provide you with the fax of the sign
