Dear Mr. Lynch:
In response to your request dated September 11, 2003 for the
administrative review and approval of the modifications proposed to
the above-referenced approved site plan, depicting the following :
. Installation of additional signage on the building, to include
the following: "Furniture", "Copy & Print Center", and "Pack &
Ship" (as depicted on the attached drawing) .
Please be informed that the proposed changes on the revised plan
date stamped 09/16/03 are not "minor" as defined within the Land
Development Regulationsr Chapter 4- Site Plan Review and may not be
processed by the Building Division as a permit application for the
following reasons:
1. The entire Staples building is allowed a maximum of 220 square feet
of wall signage. The "STAPLES" sign alone is indicated on your
submittal at 180 square feet. You are additionally requesting a
"Copy & Print Center" sign of 30.4 sq. ft., a "Pack & Ship" sign of
18.35 sq. ft. and a "Furniture" sign of 13.75 sq. ft. for a total
of 242.5 square feet.
2. The approval for the Staples project granted by the City Commission
on December 3, 2002 contained as a condition of approval the
reduction of the red tile area behind the "STAPLES" signs to more
closely match the lettering area.

The type of changes being requested may be treated as a Minor
Modification to your approved site plan if the sign sizes proposed
are reduced to stay within the allowable square footage (220 sq. ft.)
and the issue regarding the amount of red tile as a backdrop to the
"STAPLES" sign is adequately addressed.
