In response to your request for the administrative review and approval ofthe modification proposed
to the above-referenced, approved site plan, please be informed that the entry gate proposed on the
revised plans date stamped 06/11/03 is "minor", as defined within the Land Development
Regulations, Chapter 4- Site Plan Review.
This project may continue to be processed by the Building Division as a permit application subject to
compliance with the Security Gates and Emergency Access memorandum prepared by Steve Gale,
Fire Marshal dated May 9,2001 (see attached). Be advised that the proposed changes may require a
modification to the building permit. Please contact me at (561) 742-6260 if you have additional

I have made a second review of the above referenced minor site plan modification, received on May 21,
2003. The following comments remain to be addressed:
1. Show that sufficient turn-amundi has been provided for fire/rescue and solid waste truck access per
City Code. Provide a minimum lurnina radius of 60 ft. to aPproach the dumDster. Provide a minimum
backina clearance of 60 ft. (measl,l(ed from the front edQe of the dumpster Dad.) (LDR. Cnallter 2,
Section 1 U,2.b,)
2, Show mailbox locations on Site Plan (access must be available to Parcel Service),
3. Provide construction details, ~ the olans, of how gate is structuraUy fastened into the ground,

Boynton Beach Fire Rescue continues to milintain the position that security gLltes Lire
potentially clelrimentalto fire and rescue opera lions The proliferLllion of seclll ily gated
communities has resulted in many problems for responding emergency apparalus hying to gain
entry,
The minimum performance for all security gates shall be as follows
1. All security/entrance gates musthLlve an electronic key number pLld.
2. The keypad will allow entrance by the simple act ot rushing four (4) or five (5) bullons
3. All gates musl have a security entry code approved in advilnce by the Fire Marshal.
4, Gates may be operable by telephone from our dispatch office. A phone call from our
dispatchers will open the gate and a second call will be requireclto close the gate.
5. In Cilse of power failure, the gate shall open aulomatically and remain open
6, An exception will be where a 24,hour security guard is stationed at the gale.
7. A back,up device such as an authorized security box or key switch is required 10 operilte the
gale in the event the number pad entry does not work.
8. A key box shall be installed for such areas or buildings when the Fire Milrshill determines
lhat access is necessary for alllife,saving or fire'fighting purposes. The type and localion of
the key box shall be approved by the Fire Marshal and shall contain:
. I<eys to locked points of egress, whether in common areas or on the interior or exterior
of such buildings;
. I<eys to locked mechanical equipment rooms;
. Keys [0 locked electrical rooms;
. Keys to elevator controls.
g. No other code numbers, operating methods, or key systems will be kept on file by the Fire
Rescue Department.
10, In the event thai our units are unable to gain rapid entry with the ilbove melhocJs, it will
require the use of rilpid forcible entry methods to gain entry. The City of Boynlon Beilch

I have made a second review of the above referenced minor site plan modification, received on May 21,
2003. The following comments remain to be addressed:
1. Show that sufficient turn-around! has been provided for fire/rescue and solid waste truck acceSS per
City Code. Provide a minimum lumina radius of 60 It. to approach the dumpster. Provide a minimum
backina clearance of 60 ft. (measi,Jred from the front edoe 01 the dumoster pad,) (LOR. Chapter 2,
