RE: SIGN VARIANCE
Attached is an application for a variance to the Boynton Beach
Sign Code. My recommendation regarding this variance is for
denial, based on the attached memorandum from Michael Haag,
Zoning & Site Development Administrator.
Section 21-26 (c) of the Boynton Beach Code of Ordinances
requires that you review my recommendation and forward your
recommendation to the City Commission for their action. The
City Commission has thirty (30) days from the receipt of your
recommendation to consider the variance and make the following
determination:
(a) grant the variance,
(b) grant the variance with conditions, or
(cl deny the application.
Please advise me when this application will be placed on the
Commission agenda so that we might notify the applicant.

RE: SIGN VARIANCE FOR THE LORD' S PLACE
Please find attached a sign variance application form and
associated drawings submitted by Flex Plex Signs for The Lord's
Place.
The applicant is requesting relief from the size requirements of
Section 21-14 C 2 of the Boynton Beach Sign Code. The variance
is in reference to an existing free standing sign that is to be
changed from a single face sign to a double face sign and
relocated on The Lord's Place Site.
The proposed sign is in conflict with the maximum allowed sign
area for a free standing sign in a R-3 zoned district. Section
21-14 C 2 specifies thirty-two (32l square feet as the maximum
area allowed for signage. The proposed sign area is over
fifty-five (55l square feet which exceeds the allowable area by a
minimum of twenty-four (24) square feet.
My recommendation is to deny the sign variance request because
the size of the proposed sign will exceed the allowable sign area
as required by the Sign Code.
