RE: SIGN VARIANCES
Attached please find copies of two (2) sign variance requests.
My recommendation for both of these is for denial since neither
sign complies with Chapter 21, the Boynton Beach Sign Ordinance.
Section 21-26 (c and d) requires you to review my recommendation
and forward your recommendation regarding disposition of the
application to the City Commission. Within thirty (30) days of
the receipt of your recommendation, the City Commission must
consider this application. The Commission may grant the
variance, grant the variance with conditions or deny the
application.
Please notify the applicants upon scheduling the variance
hearing.

RE: SIGN VARIANCE FOR WOOLBRIGHT CORPORATE CENTER

A sign variance has been submitted by NCNB, identified as the
owner of the sign. The variance request is in reference to the
proposed copy to be placed on the new free standing sign. The
new sign copy will advertise NCNB Bank, Woolbright Corporate
Center and identify the street number of two separate buildings
located at the site.
I recommend denial of the sign variance because the proposed sign
copy will identify two different entities; NCNB as tenant within
the building and Woolbright Corporate Center which is the name of
the project (see attached drawing). This does not comply with
the definition of a free standing sign. Sign Code, Section 21-3
states: Free standing sign - A pylon or free standing sign, which
is supported by one (1) or more columns, uprights or braces, in
or upon the ground and which identifies only the project title or
one (1) main use.
Note: The existing 77 square foot sign is to be removed. The
proposed new 72 square foot sign will be positioned at the same
location as original sign.
Please forward the results of the variance so I may finalize this
issue.
