Dear Mr. Jacobs:
In response to your request dated-stamped May 1, 2007 for the
administrative review and approval of the modifications proposed to
the above-referenced approved site plan, depicting the following:
. Modification of building fa9ades for Best Buy from a full column
to a half column at the entry (as depicted on the attached
plan) .
Please be informed that the proposed changes on the revised plan date
stamped 5/1/07 are "minor" as defined within the Land Development
Regulations, Chapter 4 - Site Plan Review. This project may continue
to be processed by the Building Division as a permit application.
Be advised that the proposed changes may require a modification to
the building permit. Please contact me at (561) 742-6260 if you

The following is a nan-ative of the revision to the ex tenor elevations of the Best Buy store,
located at Boynton Town Center. Elevations oftl1e suhject builrling are enclosed with this
submittal and correspond to this nanatlve.
This reV1S10n to the extcnor of the building at th.: locatIon of the front entf) IS a result of
interference between the (2) omamental columns and the opening of tile front entrance doors.
The front entry doors slide open (in the same plane as the doors) in their nonnal operation,
however whcn forced open, as in the case of an clllcrgt:J1C)' evacuation. IhL'Y win "'break" Gpen
and swing outward. When the doors swmg outward, they hit the base of the omamental columns
and do not open to their desi~'11ed width, thus reducmg the code required opening for safe egress.
Per Mr. R1ck Lee, City of Boynton Beach Flre Department Pemllt Revie'wer, we have been
instructed to remove the columns 10 ;-,lJow tor safe egress. In the interest of satisfying Planning
and Lomng requirements for an acceptable substitute, we propose the use of , "half' columns at the
entrance, as can be seen in the enclosed devations. We hereby respectfully request revIew and
approval of the proposed ""minor modification" to the exkrior of Best Buy.
