Based on (ASCE-7-10), for Wind speed of 150 MPH, negative wind pressures on the walls and
windows in Zone 4 and 5, are for exposure B as follows:
Zone 4: -43.9 PSF
Zone 5: -54.2 PSF
Four windows with"Extruded Aluminum Tube Mullions" were installed in conformity with
NOA No. 11-1213.07. One window is in Zone 5 and the other 3 are in zone 4. The size of these
windows are as follows: Width: 37 3/8"and Span: 49 5/8". The size of the mullions used is 1x4"
and the anchors used are of type A4. This corresponds, based on the manufacturer
specifications, to a maximum wind load resistance capacity of 119.3 PSF, which is much higher
than the actual wind pressure of 54.2 PSF.
2x2x1/8" Aluminum angles were used. These angles are attached to the concrete tie beams using
'b" Dia. x 2-3/4" tapcons, two per angle. #14 sms were used,two per angle, 1-3/4"o. c.
