Our inspection was performed to the minimum standards of the Florida Product Approval # FL7804-R9, RAS-120, and the 2014 Florida Building Code. Our field inspection procedure consisted of selecting one area in each roof zone as a representative sample of the whole. The contractor removed roofing layers to expose the underlayment lapping, and back nailing in the field, perimeter and corner areas of the roof. The following is a summary of our observations: Sheathing Inspection The sheathing material was observed to be a 5/8" plywood sheathing secured at panel edges with 8d cormnon nails at 6" o.c. and at 6"o.c. at intermediate supports. Underlayment Inspection The underlayment sheet was observed to be a Boral TileSeal FIT underlayment sheet fully self- adhered directly to the plywood deck. The head/side laps were observed to be a minimum of 3" and no end laps were observed. No bubbles, blisters, or fish mouths were observed and all laps were observed to be fully adhered and well bonded. The underlayment sheet was observed to be backnailed at a maximum of 9" o.c. The drip edges were observed to be attached at a maximum of every 4" o.c. with ring shank nails with a minimum 6" overlap at seams. Tile In-Progress Inspection The inspected areas consisted of Entegra Concrete Bermuda Flat tile attached using foam adhesive. Field, perimeter, and corner areas were opened, and tiles were found to be attached using a proper large patty placement. The purpose of our inspection was to determine the uplift capacity of the roof tiles for the proposed addition at the above referenced project. This inspection does not include the roof files for the rest of the existing structure. The subject roof consisted of concrete flat tile foam set. The pitch of the subject roof is 4/12. Our field engineer's representative visited the site and conducted twenty-eight (28) uplift tests on the roof tiles. All tests were performed according to the Florida Building Code High Velocity Hurricane Zone and protocol TAS-106 using an Intercomp scale model CS200. Matthews Residence 1446 S.W.25th Avenue Unit B r Boynton Beach, Florida: All test results were found to be in compliance with TAS-106 and the Florida Building Code (see attached field sketch). The test results are limited to the tested areas. If other roof areas exhibit different conditions, it should be brought to our attention for remedial work. This uplift test is not a final roof inspection. A final roof inspection must be conducted by the building official for approval. The test results presented reflect the condition of the roof system at the time of the test. These results are time and sample dependent since roof conditions are continuously changing due to exposure to the elements. Florida Engineering & Testing, Inc.
