AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, CREAT.ING THE-NON--CLASSIFIED POSITION
OF CITY ENGINEER OF ~SAID MUNICIPALITY,
ESTABLISHING THE DUTIESAND COMPENSATION OF
SAID OFFICE, PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE,
AUTHORITY TO CODIFY, REPEALING PROVISIONS,
ANEFFECTIVE DATE, AND FOR~-OTITER PURPOSES.
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of t~oynton Beach, Florida:
SECTION 1: That pursuant to lhe provisions of Section 23 of
the Charier of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, there is hereby
created the unclassified position of City Engineer, said position to be filled
by appointment by the City Council, said officer to serve at the pleasure of th,
City Council.
SECTION 2: The duties and responsibilities of said City Engine
shall be as follows:
{a) Supervise and participate in preparation of specifications
and contracts for the construction of streeis, sidewalks, sanitar
and storm sewers, bridges, water main extensions, and
other engineering projects.
(b) Supervise and participate in computations of paving,
curbing and sewer assessments; design storm sewers
and culverts; water extension projects, streets and other
municipal projects; make time and material estimates.
(c) Confer with the City Manager on design, construction
and/or maintenance of municipal public works facilities;
prepare reports and make recommendations relating to
conduct of engineering activities.
(d) Conduct field inspections, prepare progress and final
reports on varied municipal construction projects.
(e) Review plans for sub-division and housing projects;
participate in the prepartion of improvements reports
for tax assessment purposes.
(f) Perform relai~l work as required or directed by City
Manager or City Council.
SECTION 3: Compensation for the office of City Engineer
is hereby established at $9,000.00 per annum, payable in the manner and at
the time other city employees are paid. The City Engineer shall also be
entilled to a car allowance of $75.00 per month.
SECTION 4: Specific authorily is hereby granted to codify
and incorporate lhis ordinance in lhe City's existing code.
SECTION 5: Should any sec%ion or provision of this ordinance,
or any portion hereof be declared by a court of competent jurisdiction lo be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof as
a whole or any part hereof, other than the part declared to be invalid.
SECTION 6: All ordinances or paris of ordinances in conflicl
herewith are

manner and al the lime provided by lhe charier and ordinances of lhe CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA.
