!,~NEREAS~ the orovisions of Section 6-!6 of the Code of Ordinances of
the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA~ vrovides for the investment of surplus
funds cons6itutiD~g a oart of the M~nicioal Cemetery Fund in U. S~
Covermment securities only~ mhd
5~F~REA8~ it is deemed essential that the in.vestment vowers of the
8o%uncil as oertaining to said ~nd be enlarged +m enable the City to realize
the highest interest return on said monies~ as authorized by law~- and
B~AmS~ this measure is deemed to be of an emergency nsture in order
to orovide for the efficient daily ooeration of the Municioal Finsnce
Deoart~ent of the City~
NOW~ THEREFORE~ be it ordained by the City Council of the CI1~ OF
BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA~
SECTION != ~at Section 6-!6 of the Codified Ordinances of the
CITY OF BOY[fTON BEgCH~ FLORDDA~ be and the same is hereby ~mended to read:
Sec° 6-t6o Cemete~ Fuud~ use~ investment.
~1 funds derived from the sale of cemetery lots ~hall
be set aside in a 'savarate fund to he designated as the
Cemetery F~nd~ and used for the oeroetual care~ upkeeo
and maintenance of said cemetery° Such funds~ or
portions thereof~ may from tLme to time~ as accumula~
tions are in the best judgment of the City Council
sufficient~ be deposited in Federal Savings ~ud Loan
Association accounts and time deoosits~ secured in
accordance with law~ or invested in United States
Govermment securities.
SECTION 2~' ¢¢~a=v~b~i.t~,, Each of the orovisions of this ordinance
are separable including word, claus% phrase, or sentence¢ and if any pro~
vision hereof shall be declared invalid~ the remaining portion shall not be
affected but shall remain in full force and effect~
SECTION 3: R~ep~ea!~ Provi~gD~ All ordinances or parts of ordin-
ances in conflict herewith are hereby reoealedo
SECTION L,: Authority_.~p~9. d~fff~.' $oecific authority if hereby granted
to codify and incoroorate this ordinance in the City's existing code.
SECTION 5: Effective Date° This ordinance is deemed to be au
emergency measure and shall become effective i~mediately upon passage.
