AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE #317 OF SAID CITY,
BY ADDING AN ADDITIONAL SECTION THERETO
TO BE NUMBERED SECTION 2A, PROVIDING A DATE
FOR FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR WIDOWS AND
DISABILITY TAX EXEMPTIONS.
WHEREAS, Ordinance #317 of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, effective March 2, 1959, provides for a $500.00 tax exemption
for ,~iidows and disabled persons; and
WHEREAS, said ordinance failed to establish a deadline dar e
for filing of applications for said exemptions during each taxable year; and
WHEREAS, the nonexsistence of such filing date presents
numerous administrative problems in connection with the preparation of the
municipal tax roll,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. Thai Ordinance #317 of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, is hereby amended by adding after Section 2 thereof, an additional
section to be numbered Sec~tion 2!~; to read:
Section 2A: That all applications for widows and
disability tax exemptions, provided for in this Ordinance,
must be filed with the office of the Municipal Tax
Assessor between January 1st and March 31st of each
taxable year in order to entitle qualified applicants
to such exemptions.
SECTION 2: Separability: IF any section, subsection, clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or un-
constitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion shall be
deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions hereof.
SECTION 3: Repealing Provisions. All ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: Effective Date. This ordinance shall become
effective in the manner and at the time provided by the charter and ordinance
of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA.
