A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITYOFBOYNS~N BEACH, FLORIDA,
ENQOURAGINGTHE FLORIDA LEGISLA~
TO BE SENSITIVE TO THE PROBLEM OF
YOUTH~LOYMENTANDPASS
LEGISLATIONTOESTABLISH A
MEANINGFUL YOUTH TARGETED WORK
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, high youth unemployment is directly related to high
youth crime; and
WHEREAS, youth unemployment and youth crime represents a
significant and severe problem in the Cities of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the causes of severe youth unemployment include
industrial and technological changes which generate fewer entry level
jobs; and
WHEREAS, many of our young citizens are not adequately pre-
pared to cope with the skills and attitudes required in the workplace;
and
WHEREAS, there has been and continues to bea reduction of
federal programs designed to retrain, educate and provide incentives
for long term employment in the private sector; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach
shares the conviction that young people represent a vastly underused
resource and innovative efforts are needed to establish new employment
and education opportunities for such persons.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDBY THE CITY COUNCIL OFT HE
