R24-058 1 RESOLUTION NO. R24-058 1 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, 4 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY LANE 5 CLOSURES IN THE 2000 BLOCK OF STATE ROAD 5 (FEDERAL 6 HIGHWAY) FOR THE ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY EVENT, AND 7 AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER, OR DESIGNEE, TO APPLY FOR 8 THE STATE PERMIT FOR THE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE; 9 PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE;AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 10 11 WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach's annual 4th of July Celebration is scheduled to 12 be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024; and 13 WHEREAS, in order to provide for the safety of the participants and citizens attending 14 the celebration, a portion of State Road 5, beginning 700 feet of the right lane heading 15 Northbound and 400 feet of the left lane heading Southbound, will be required to be closed 16 beginning at 12:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. or until safe to reopen, to accommodate 17 complimentary shuttle services; and 18 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation requires the local government 19 to authorize all temporary road closures on state roadways; and 20 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach desires to approve and 21 authorize the temporary lane closures in the 2000 Block of State Road 5 (Federal Hwy) - 700 22 feet of the right lane heading Northbound and 400 feet of the left lane heading Southbound 23 on Thursday, July 4, 2024, for the annual 4th of July event; and 24 WHEREAS,the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to apply for the permit for the 25 temporary closing of state roads for special events, pursuant to Chapter 14-65, Florida 26 Administrative Code, for said temporary closings. 27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF 28 BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: 29 SECTION 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are true and correct and hereby 30 ratified and confirmed by the City Commission 31 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach approves and 32 authorizes the temporary lane closures in the 2000 Block of State Road 5 (Federal Hwy) - 700 33 feet of the right lane heading Northbound and 400 feet of the left lane heading Southbound 34 on Thursday, July 4, 2024, for the annual 4th of July event. 35 SECTION 3. The City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized to apply for 36 permits from the Florida Department of Transportation pursuant to Chapter 14-65, Florida 37 Administrative Code, for said temporary closings. 38 SECTION 4.
