84-GGGGA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF DESIGNATING STATE ROAD 80 AS A CROSS-STATE HIGHWAY. WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach wishes to join Southwest Florida League of Cities in recognizing the con- tinued existence of dangerous road conditions along State Road 80, and WHEREAS, the increase in the region's population will escalate inter-regional demands, and WHEREAS, there is a need for better exchange of commerce and social travel opportunities between southwest Florida and its southeast coast, including Palm Beach County, as well as with the Lake Okeechobee area, and WHEREAS, there is a need for the population which borders this highway to frequently travel for necessities of life, either to the east or west coast. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That the City Council of Boynton Beach with the Southwest Florida League of Cities, hereby recommend~ that for the continued safe growth of the southern portion of Florida, State Road 80 be designated a cross-state highway. Section 2. That the portion of State Road 80 which passes through South Florida be so designated as a component of this major east-west highway link. Section 3. That the City Clerk shall forward copies of this Resolution to Governor Graham, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, appropriate State Transportation District Offices, the Members of the Florida Legislative Transportation Committees, and the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation.
