83-RRRRA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ANY AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 553, FLORIDA STATUTES, OR ANY OTHER CHAPTER OF THE FLORIDA STATUES WHICH WOULD PERMIT THE PLACEMENT OF MOBILE HOMES IN ANY AND/OR ALL AREAS ZONED FOR RESIDENTIAL USE. WHEREAS, the trade association'for the mobile home industry proposed an amendment to CS/SBs 6, 18 and 287; and WHEREAS, said amendment would have changed the definition of manufactured homes to include mobile homes; and WHEREAS, said amendment would have permitted the placement of mobile homes in any area zoned for residential use; and WHEREAS, CS/SBs 6, 18 and 287 was passed by the Florida Legislature without this amendment; and WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach is greatly con- cerned that such an amendment might be proposed during the Sunset Review of Chapter 553, Florida Statutes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City of Boynton Beach hereby expresses its opposition to any amendment to Chapter 553~ Florida Statutes, or any other chapter of the Florida Statutes, which would permit the placement of mobile homes in any and/or all areas zoned for residential use. Section 2. The City of Boynton Beach believes that all decisions relating to local zoning should be made by the affected local government agency and therefore opposes any state-wide mandatory legisation dealing with zoning. Section 3. The City of Boynton Beach strongly urges the Florida Legislature to vote in opposition to any such legislation. Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to members of the Florida Legislature, members of the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, members of the Palm Beach County Municipal League and any other person so designated by the City Council. Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect imme- diately upon its passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of December, 1983.
