83-IIII RESOLUTIONNO!~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE TOWN OF OCEAN RIDGE IN ITS EFFORTS AT BEACH RESTORATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, is aware of the concerted efforts of the Town Commission of the Town of Ocean Ridge toward beach restoration; and WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, that the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation has tentatively denied a permit to Palm Beach County to restore the beaches through off- shore dredging but has tentatively granted a permit for an alternative method involving "improvements" to mechanical sand transfer operations at the South Lake Worth Inlet; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, supports offshore dredging as the most effective method of beach restoration and opposes "improvements" to the sand transfer plant which will not improve beach restoration for the beaches south of the South Lake Worth Inlet; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1: The City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, hereby supports the Towh of Ocean Ridge in its efforts at beach restoration and supports said Town in its activities relating to the same. Section 2: A copy of this Resolution shall be submitted to the Palm Beach County Commission, the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation, members of the local legislative delegation, and any other entity requesting the same.
