A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH APPROVING THE DES-
IGNATION OF AN ENTERPRISE ZONE WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has determined its need
for the benefits of the Tax Credits for New Jobs (Section 220.181,
Florida Statutes) and the Tax Credit for New or Expanded Businesses
(Section 220.181, Florida Statutes); and,
WHEREAS, it is required by the Rule of the Department of
Veteran and Community Affairs, Division of Local Resource Manage-
ment, Chapter 9B-15, that such benefits can only be accrued upon
designation of an area(s) as enterprise zone(s) in accordance with
Chapter 290, Florida Statutes; and,
WHEREAS, an area within the City of Boynton Beach has been
identified as a Housing and Urban Development approved Community
Development Block Grant Program target area Dr neighborhood'~ St~ate-
[y area pursuant to 24 CFR Part 570; and,
WHEREAS, the area to be found within the boundaries of the
loynton Beach Neighborhood Strategy area, bounded on the north by
the Boynton Canal, the east by Railroad Avenue, the south by NE/NW
9th Avenue, the west by Interstate 1-95 is characterized as an area
£n which there are a substantial number of slum, deteriorated or de
Leriorating structures, high density population and overcrowded
:onditions, a predominance of inadequate and deteriorating streets,
~nd general unsafe conditions for the residents of the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, that: 1) The area(s) defined above is
[ound to be an enterprise zone(s); and (2) rehabilitation and
'edevelopment activities are necessary in the interest of public
safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Boynton Beach.
