RESOLUTION O. [~/ ~/'
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH APPROVING
THE DESIGNATION OF AN ENTERPRISE ZONE
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has determined its need
for the benefits of the Tax Credits for New Jobs (Chapter 80-247,
Laws of Florida) ; and the Tax Credit for New or Expanded Businesse~
(Chapter 80-248, Laws of Florida); and,
WHEREAS, it is required by the Rule of the Department of
Veteran and Community Affairs, Division of Local Resource Manage-
ment, Chapter 9B-15, that such benefits can only be accrued upon
designation of an area(s) as enterorise zone(s) in accordance with
Florida Statutes 163.355; and,
WHEREAS, an area within the City of Boynton Beach consisting
of Census Tracts 56, 57, and 61 has been shown to exhibit charac-
teristics of population and economic vitality which are signifi-
cantly different from the City as a whole; and,
WHEREAS, Census tracts 56, 57 and 61 taken collectively have
substantially higher levels of physical, economic and fiscal dis-
tress than exists in the City as a whole; and,
WHEREAS, Census tracts 56, 57 and 61 are more particularly
defined as an area located north of Ocean Avenue, west of the
Intracoastal Waterway south of a line which meanders and forms the
northern City Limit and east of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA.
Section 1. That the City Council finds that the area defined
above, exhibits characteristics which vary significantly from the
City as a whole.
Section 2. That the area defined above is found to be an
Enterprise Zone.
Section 3. That two certified copies of this Resolution are
to be forwarded to the Department of Veteran and Community Affairs
Division of Local Resource Management.
