A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO COMMISSIONER
DOROTHY WILKEN AND THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TRANSFER OF GIRL SCOUT
PARK
WHEREAS, with Commissioner Dorothy Wilken~ s
leadership~ the Palm Beach County Board of County
Commissioners have considered and approved the transfer of
land known as Girl Scout Park from the County to the City of
Boynton Beach~ and
WHEREAS, consideration of this transfer has been
under way for several years; and
WHEREAS~ this tract of undeveloped public land is
not an appropriate County park due to its location and
access~ and
WHEREAS, the County Park & Recreation Department
has made a cooperative effort to maintain this passive park
even though its access and use is limited by its location.
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Council of the City
of Boynton Beach, Florida express their appreciation and
thanks for Commissioner Wilken's efforts and the Board of
County Commissioners approval to transfer this tract of land
to the City thus reducing the County maintenance burden and
acknowledging that due to the park~s location and access it
is more properly a City park than a County Park.
