83-ARESOLUTION NO. 83-~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH URGING THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO DESIGNATE, AS A MINIMUM, ALL OF THE INCORPORATED AREAS OF BOYNTON BEACH AS A BOYNTON BEACH POSTAL ADDRESS WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach is an incorporated municipality with a current population of approximately 40,000; and WHEREAS, it is suggested that governmental agencies should attempt to develop policies that do not create confusion for citizens; and WHEREAS, the area south of Hypoluxo Road has no geographical or governmental relationship to the Town of Lantana but does either geographically relate to Boynton Beach or is in Boynton Beach; and WHEREAS, Hypoluxo Road is a well known geographical east/west boundary at the northern limits of the City of Boynton Beach and serves as the northern boundary to any possible Boynton Beach expansion; and WHEREAS, the residents of Boynton Lakes Estates do live south of Hypoluxo Road and are within the incorporated limits of Boynton Beach; and WHEREAS, additional development will take place in the general area within the corporate limits of Boynton Beach. NOW, THEREFOREt BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, THAT: Section 1. The Mayor and City Council are hereby requesting that the United States Postal Service redesignate the area south of Hypoluxo Road as a Boynton Beach Postal Area, with a Boynton Beach Zip Code. -1- Section 2. The Mayor and City Council are hereby requesting that the same redesignation be applied to the land immediately adjacent to the south side of Gulfstream Boulevard at the corner of Federal Highway (US ~1), which is an area that forms the maximum expansion of the City of Boynton Beach to the south, an area in the City of Boynton Beach having a Delray Beach Post Office designation. Section 3. A copy of this Resolution Will be forwarded to Senator Paula Hawkins, Senator Lawton Childs and Congressman Daniel Mica and request their assistance in bringing about these requested changes in postal designations° PASSED AND ADOPTED this ~.~ day of January, 1983.
