A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH
OPPOSING CASINO GAMBLING IN THE STATE OF
FLORIDA
WHEREAS, a proposed amendment to the Florida Constitution
to permit the operation of state-regulated privately-owned gambling
casinos in Dade and Broward Counties was rejected by the voters of
Florida in 1978, by a margin of more than one million votes; and
WHEREAS, Another proposed amendment to the Florida Consti-
tution to permit casino gambling in Florida is now in circulation;
and
WHEREAS, casmno gambling is associated with unsavory and
criminal activities which blight communities and destroy the
quality of life now enjoyed in Florida;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Boynton Beach City Council hereby declares
itsopposition to any amendment to the Florida Constitution per-
mitting casino gambling in the State of Florida.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall deliver copies of this
resolution by mail to the Governor and Cabinet of the State of
Florida, the presiding officers of the Florida Senate and House
of Representatives, each member of the Palm Beach County Legis-
lative Delegation, each member of the Palm Beach County Commis-
sion, and each municipality mn Palm Beach County.
