82-EERESOLUTION NO. 82- ~ ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE POSITION OF MECHANIC III AND PROVIDING THE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, DESCRIPTION AND SALARY OF SAID POSITION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: THAT the position of Mechanic III as a classified position be hereby created~ The duties and responsibilities of said position shall be in accordance with the job description attached hereto and made a part hereof. Employee in this class of work uses independent judgment as th the method of repair, after reviewing the work orders. Employees holdingthis position are also able to trouble-shoot on mechanical equipment that is not functioning properly. Work may be checked by Automotive Shop Supervisor during progress, or upon completion Performs other work as requested. · ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS (NOTE: These examples are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed in this class. The omission of specific statemenvs of duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the departments function). Assists the Automotive Shop Supervisor with planning and inspecting the work of equipment,all mechanics in the maintenance and repair of both diesel and gasoline powered AssiStSof all equipment.in or. will be assigned the du~y of the prevention maintenance program Trains new personnel; prepares reports pertaining to employees and assigns work icalt° hiSequipment.Staff. Supervises and participates in repair and maintenance of mechan- Performs related work as required. KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILIR Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. Considerable knowledge of his departments function and goals in maintaining City vehicles and other mechanical equipment. Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and practices used in his department Ability to work from written and oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to supervise and train employees. Ability to keep and maintain re~ords of work performed. Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used in the performance of the job. High School graduate, State High School diploma, G E D certificate; or trade school course work in auto mechanics, supplemented with three years experience in auto mechanic work, two of which were in a supervisory position~ or any equivalent combination of'training and/or experience.
