82-PRESOLUTION NO. 82- P A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD TO ADOPT HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES WHICH WILL PERMIT THE VAST'.~MAJORITY OF THE HIGH SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS OF BOYNTON BEACH TO ATTEND NO MORE THAN TWO HIGH SCHOOLS (e.g. ATLANTIC COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL AND SANTALUCES COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL). WHEREAS, Boynton Beach is presently the third largest municipality in Palm Beach County; and WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach does not have a high school within its City limits; and WHEREAS, a new high school, Santaluces Community High School, is being constructed northwest of Boynton Beach; and WHEREAS, the proposed changes in school attendance boundaries for the 1982-1983 school year will further divide Boynton Beach's homogeneous neighborhoods by splitting Boynton Beach's children of high school age into three school attendance boundar les. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Mayor and City Council of the City of Boynton Beach support the efforts of the City of Boynton Beach, the Town of Lantana, and the Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce in their effort to obtain a modification of the proposed 1982-1983 school attendance boundaries to provide that the high school aged students of the City of Boynton Beach attend either Atlantic Community High School or Santaluces Community High School and in this connection request that the Palm Beach County School Board give serious consideration to the alternate proposals for school attendance boundaries that the above groups will be presenting to the Palm Beach County School Board at its meeting of March 3, 1982.
