FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 81-VW
SECTION 1, CHANGING JOB TITLE AND DESCRIPTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That Resolution No. 81-VVV 'be amended 'by
changing the title and job description for Evidence Technician to
read Identification Technician.
Section 2. The job description for Identification
Technician as amended is attached hereto and made a part hereof~an
is hereby adopted, ratified and approved.

Characteristics of the Class:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of. tasks related to the maintenance
and use of photographs, fingerprint records and other police related files.
Incumbent is considered expert witness in Court, regarding fingerprint identifica-
tion. Performs other work as required.
Examples of Duties:
1. Obtains, maintains, and identifies fingerprint records.
a. -Rolls fingerprint impressions and records impression, and mails
.records to appropriate office. Completes history sheet, issues bureau
,--number, and issues identification cards to various personnel.
cb. Classifies fingerprint impressions based on standardized techniques
Xor interpretation of a great variety of patterns and coding systems,
-:and codes fingerprint-card. Files records according to appropriate
.indexing method. Searches fingerprint records using knowledge of
~coding and identification techniques, looking for duplicate.fingerprints,
~requested prints, or other identifying information.
c. Searches print files and other records to obtain match of latent
-:fingerprints obtained from crime scene of other sources. .Compares
records with prints provided by other agencies. When match is ob-
~tained prepares in detail a chart to establish proof that the suspect's
-:~-prints are in fact the same as those obtained at the crime scene.
",These charts are presented in court by incumbent as conclusive proof
':that there is a positive identification made.
:2. .Photographs persons and criminal records.
-a. Photographs city employees, police person~rel, crime victims,
'.-'suspects and others. Processes photographs and prepares appropriate
--photo records, ID ,card or photo file.
b. Photo fingerprints and other crime related materials and prepares
charts and reports from photos. Assemb]es photo line up as requested
by comparing photo of suspect xvith other photos in files. '
Performs a variety of re]ated support taks. Ansxvers inquiries from
· Departmental personnel, other law enforcement agencies, and the public
about fingerprint, photographic and IC functions. Maintains, and
· searches various criminal records and office files. Uses typewriter,
NCIC reports, ~fi~i other means to transmit or receive related information.

~equirem ents:
A. Education and Trainin~
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by specialized training
in fingerprint identification or equivalent combination of experience
and education.
B. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills'
.Knowledge of fingerprint identification techniques. Skill in making
positive matches of latent prints.
Ability to explain to court and law enforcement officials basis of'
positive identification of fingerprints.
Knowledge of city operating~ procedures and administrative practices.
