A RESOlUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT
FOR CONTINUED FEDERAL F~DING FOR HEAD START
PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY'~ERVICE ADMINISTRATION
FUNDING SO THAT EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES CAN
BE ~ADE AVAILABLE FOR PRE-SCHOOL AGE CHILOREN.
WHEREAS, Head Start funded child care programs in the
City of Boynton Beach, Eloride, ~haYe pro~n~.to~e~n-asset ~to~the
City end its citizens; and
WHEREAS, there is concern about the level of Federal
expenditures for programs throughout the Country; and
WHEREAS, it is acknowledged the~ Federal budgetary
control is a vital concern of all people; and
WHEREAS, current proposals of President Ronald Reagan
concerning budget reductions include Head iS~t f~ndiflg.at the~
same level ss originally proposed by former President Jimmy Carter
NOW, THEREFORE, BE .IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Council urges that funding for
Head Start programs continue to be supported by the President and
Congress, so that pre-school age children of working parents will
have an opportunity to continue to attend these programs and bene-
fit from ~his early exposure of such programs outside their homes.
Section 2. That certified copies of this Resolution be
forwarded to the Florida Congressional Delegation and the Office
of the President of the United States of America.
