A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, TO ESTABLISH BIKEWAYS.
WHEREAS, a city-wide bikeway system is proposed in the
Comprehensive Plan of the City of Boynton Beach; and
WHEREAS, safety ms enhanced by directing bicycle travel
efficiently and by alerting motorists to the presence of cyclists;
and
WHEREAS, the City recognmzes the value of cycling as an
alternative, energy-efficient means of transportation which
contributes to reductmons in traffic, noise, vehicle accidents
and pollution; and
WHEREAS, the beneficial effects of cycling as a form of
exercise and recreational activity are acknowledged;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
!ITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Certain streets and sidewalks or bike paths, where
available, are hereby designated as "Bikeways" when
marked by the appropriate BIKE ROUTE signs; and that
2. The use of these-Bikeways ms encouraged for both
utilitarman and recreational cyclists; and that
3. Such appropriate use is to be respected by all vehicle
operators mn accordance with applicable statutes;
and that
4. These Bikeways are recommended routes of travel for
cyclists and are therefore purely advisory; and that
5. These Bikeways may be expanded, redirected and/or
modified as needs requmre, in general conformance
with the Plan.
