80-KRESOLUTION NO. 80K A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT¥OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE POSITION OF TRAINING 0FPICER, AND PROVIDING THE DUTI$S, RESPONSIBILITIES, DESCRIPTION, AND SALARY OF SAID POSITION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: That the position of Training Officer as a classified position is hereby created. The duties and respon- sibilities of said office shall be in accordance with the job description attached hereto and made a part hereof, at Pay Grade 33. Seal) Council M~ n~f~r ' ~RAINING OFFICER Dept: - Fire Code: 1980 Characteristics of the Class: Under the general direction of the Fire Chief, the Training o~ficer iR responsibile for training activities. The Training Officer is a direct representative of the Fire chief. The incumbent fu/~ctions as a staff officer in support of management~ plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and controls activities within area of responsibility, and is responsible for a balanced training program for each individual of the department as well as.for the coordinated response and program of each of the departmental shifts so that each individual on his shift, and each shift operates within an overall coordinated response and activity procedure. Performs other work as required. Examples of Duties: Formulates and coordinates both basic in principles and practices of modern vention techniques. and advanced training firefighting and pre- Continually researches and updates information and techniques through professional publications, coordination with other Fire Department training officers, workshops, seminars, and special sehoolsl Condu~ts special training sessions to address specific hazards in fire suppression such as chemicals, explosives, complex public use buildings, schools, hospitals and others. Makes public presentations'to citizen groups on fire prevention and other fire-related services. So Attends and participates in fire combat situations. Attends and participates in major fires. Observes and notes techniques used and critiques in formal training sessions. 6. Knowledqe, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of basic and advanced principles and practices of firefighting and prevention techniques. Knowledge of basic first=aid and life saving techniques. Demonstrated ability in practical on-line firefighting experience. ~inlmo/~ Requirements: High school diploma or GED, supplemented with extensive training in modern firefighting principles and practices both through field and practical experience and classroom experience. Demonstrated ability to carry out preptanning activities. Eight years of progressively increasin resoon ibl ' ~ g _ s~_l~ty in Fire Depar=~ment activities and on-line experience.
