A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORIDA, Ai~ENDING RULE VIII,
SECTION 7, OF THE BOYNTON BEACH CML SERVICE
RULES AND REGULATIONS
WI~EREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida, the Municipal Personnel Officer has heretofore
recommended certain amendments to Rules and Regulations of Civil
Service of the said City; and
W~IEREAS, the City Manager has reviewed said proposed
amendments and has approved them without' modification; and

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
2OUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Rule VIII, Section 7 shall be amended to
read as follows:
"SECTION 7. PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATIONS: Vacancies in
higher positions in the classified service shall be filled by the
promotion of employees in the service whenever in the judgement of
the City Manager and the Personnel Director it is in the best
interests of the City to do so.
When the determination is made that there will be a
promotion, the Personnel Director shall designate the lower class
oK classes to which the promotional examination is to be given.
Only those employees currently holding the positions in the class
so designated will be eligible to make application. The Personnel
Director may also prescribe other reasonable requirements in the
examination announcement."
Section 2. That the proposed amendment to the currently
existing Rules and Regulations of Civil Service of the City of
Boynton Beach, Florida, as set forth in Section 1, be and the
same are hereby appr6ved, ratified and adopted.
Section 3. In all other respects subject Rules and
Regulations of Civil Service are hereby ratified and confirmed
as heretofore adopted and amended.
