WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser has
dramatically and materially increased valuations of many
properties throughout Palm Beach County on the 1978 tax roll;
and
WHEREAS, Un!~ss commensurate reduction in established
millage rates is effected, material increase~ in 1978 tax
statements will result, and
WHEREAS, it Ks submitted that all tax authorities in
Palm Beach County should adopt and adhere to the philosophy of
the Honorable Justice Glenn Terrell, speaking for the Florida
Supreme Court in the case of City of Boynton Beach vs. State:
"It would be fine if we all could realize
that the bottom of the taxpayer's pocket
rather than the sky is the limit of the
power to tax."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CiTY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach
County are earnestly requested in connection with their 1978-79
budget deliberations to establish a millage rate that will not
increase the ~ount of tax impact borne by individual Palm B~ach
County taxpayers with regard to 1978 tax statements.
