WHEREAS, the legislature of the ~tate of Florida has
heretofore enacted Section 741.21 Florida Statutes establishing
parental responsibility for commission of torts by their minor
children, however, limiting said financial responsibility to the
sum of $1,000.00; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Boynton Beach,
Florida, after investigation and consideration of statistics avail
able in this particular problem area, deems it necessary and prope
that said limitation of liability be increased or removed entirely
NOW, THEREFOPdE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Palm Beach County Munislpal
League and Florida League of Cities investigate and study all
available statistics regardin9 the problem of damage caused by
minor children and the advisability of imposing parental
responsibility for ~al!dsmagesoinflicted upon the public; and, if
indicated, adopt supportive resolutions directed to the Florida
legislature for enactmen~ of appropriate legislation to alleviate
this problem.
