78-MRESOLUTION NO. 78-~
W~EREAS, the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has for
many years successfully operated an independeht municipal Library
Board; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the
citizens of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida that said operatio
be indicated as an independent function; and
WHEREAS, the County Commission of Palm Beach County,
Florida is attempting to inte~grate municipal library systems
within Palm Beach County, Florida into the County library system;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach
Florida, upon the recommendation of its' municipal Library
Board, opposes such consolidation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the City of Boynton Beach, Florida
hereby expresses
solidated County
desire to retain
system to operate
municipal
its' opposition to the establishment of a con-
library system, and states its' intent and
its' autonomous municipally owned library
on a cooperative system with other established
libraries and the Palm Beach County library system.
