A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO~4ISSIONERS TO
PROVIDE FUNDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A SWIMMING POOL
ON THE CAMPUS OF ATLANTIC HIGH SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach,
Florida recognizes the need for adequate swimming facilities for
recreational and educational swimming in south Palm Beach County;
and
WHEREAS, adequate swimming facilities do not now exis~
within Boynton Beach, Florida or within the immediate area of
Atlantic High School; and
WHEREAS, a group of public spirited individuals, incorporat~
under the name of Aqua Crest, have worked diligently over the
past several years to realize a swimming pool at Atlantic High
School, raising over $22,000.00 for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the School Board of Palm Beach County has agreed
to provide property for such a facility on the campus of Atlantic
High School, this site being a convenient location to the maj
of the citizens of south Palm Beach County, and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Advisory Committee of the Palm Beac
County Commission has voted unanimously to endorse this project;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Palm Beach County Board of County
Commissioners are hereby urged to include funds in their 1977-78
budget for the purpose of constructing an olympic-size swimming
pool on the campus of Atlantic High School.
