77-DDRESOLUTION NO. 77- DD
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING ESTABLISHMENT OF A BOYNTON BEACH HIGH
SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach, Florida is presently the
third largest municipality in Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, the population of the greater metropolitan Boynton
Beach area presently exceeds 60,000 ; and
WHEREAS, the said greater metropolitan Boynton Beach area
does not presently have an independent high school within its
limits; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed fitting, proper and essential that,
based upon the population of said area, the convenience and neces-
sity of parents and students of high school age residing within
said area, and the sincere desire of said area's inhabitants to
have their own independent high school facility in order to es-
tablish and maintain said area's indentity and reflect its' pride.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the Board of Public Instruction of Palm
Beach County, Florida is urgently requested to immediately in-
stitute necessary steps to establish an independent public high
school facility within the greater metropolitan Boynton Beach area
to be designated as "Boynton Beach High School"; and the Mayor is
hereby directed and authorized to appoint an ad hoc committee,
consisting of City personnel for the purpose of coordinating the
joint efforts of the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce and other
civic and social organizations within said area dedicated to the
accomplishment of the above goal at the earliest possible date.
