A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANS-
PORTATION TO ERECT ROAD SIGNS IDENTIFYING ALL EXI¢S
INTO THE CITY FROM U.S. INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 95 (I-95)
AS "BOYNTON BEACH" EXITS AND ADDING DUAL DESIGNATION
OF "S .W. 15TH AVE." TO EXISTING WOOLBRIGHT ROAD EXIT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has
received complaints from the Greater Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce and
numerous others reporting the serious problem which has been 'generated by the
lack of a clear designation of "Boynton Beach" on roadway signs designating those
exits from U,S. Interstate Highway 95 (I-95) into the City and as a result of the use
of the name "Woolbright Road" on the road sign designating the S.W. 15th Ave.
exit from 1-95; and
WHEREAS, this problem has caused substantial confusion for residents and
visitors in their attempts to locate the City of Boynton Beach from 1-95 and has had
a detrimental effect on promotional advertising of business establishments; and
WHEREAS, said problem could be eliminated by the erection of road signs
on 1-95 by the State of Florida Department of Transportation (1) clearly identifying
those exits ir~to the City as being "Boynton Beach" exits and (2) adding to the
existing Woolbright Road exit sign the dual designation thereof as "S .W. 15th
Ave, ," the name by which this road has been known by area residents since its
identification as such by the City in 1959.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the State of Florida Department of Transportation be and it
is hereby requested to erect at the earliest possible date roadway signs identifying
all those exits from U.S. Interstate Highway 95 (I-95) into the City of Boyntor~
Beach as "Boynton Beach" exits and adding "S .W. 15th Ave." as the dual designa-
tion of the existing sign from 1-95 presently identified only. as "Woolbright Road."
Section 2: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Tom B. Webb, Jr., Secretary,
State of Florida Department of Transportation, 535 Burns Building,
Ta[[ahassee, Florida 32304.
