76-URESOLUTION NO. 76-U A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY TO' IN- CLUDE A CERTAIN PROVISO IN FUTURE CONTRACTS ENTERED INTO WITH PRIVATE SANITATION FIRMS. WHEREAS, from time to time it becom~es necessary for the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County to enter into long-term service contracts with private sanitation firms for the purpose of providing for the collection and disposal of trash and garbage in the unincorporated area of Palm Beach County; and B~HEREAS, this same service of trash and garbage collection and disposal is performed by the employees of the City of Boynton Beach for the benefit of the residents within its territorial limits; and WHE. REAS, the failure to provide for the effective termination of the aforesaid contracts as to any. unincorporated areas upon its annexation into a municipality has created a hardship upon the residents of these areas and has resulted in subsiantia[ loss of potential revenues to municipalities performing services for their residents akin to those provided by virtue of these contrac"ts NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: That in order to prevent further loss of potential revenues to the City of Boynton Beach and to those municipalities simi[ar~[~y situate, the Board of County Commissioners of Palm Beach County be, and it is hereby requested to require inclusion of a proviso in ail future contracts with private sanitation firms for the collection and disposal of trash and garbage in the unincorporated county areas thai the effectiveness of the contract wi[[ be terminated upon annexation of any such area by a municipality which provides services similar to that provided under the terms of the contract. Section 2: That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to fOrward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of County Commis- sioners of Palm Beach County, Wi[Ham Med/en, Chairman.
