O#993O ORD!EANCE NO. 99 AN 0RDINA!{CE PROHIBITING PROFITEERING ~VITHiN THE TOVJ~N OF BOYi~TON, iN PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLOP~DA, AND PROVID~[G PUNISH~[ENT FOR AI~Y P~SON, FIR~[ OR CORPORATION GUILTY OF ANY VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE BY FINE OR I~[PRIS0~!ENT OR BOTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TOW C0~[~[iSSIONERS OF THE T0~7[ OF BOY~ITON, iN PAL~[ BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA:~ '~TtiEREAS, the present situation in the Town of Boynton, in Palm Beach County, Florida, demands from our citizens as a whole the utmost cooperation in every respect, and Yg~MEPG{AS, it must be presumed that there will be some cases where this cooperation is lacking and measures must be taken to enforce the same for the general public welfare~ THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF T0!~ C01~- I~{ISSi0NERS OF THE T0~ OF BOE~TON, IN PAL~Y£ BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA; AS FOLL0%?S: Section 1. %mat from and after the passage of this Ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person, persons, firm or corporation to charge for any goods, wares, mer- chandise, labor or rent a price greater than was charged for similar commodities, services or tenancy in the Tovm of Boynton, in Palm Beach County, State of Florida>at noon on the Fourteenth day of 2eptember, .A.D., 1928. Section 2. PROFITEERING~ it shall be considered profiteeming for any person, persons, firm or corpora- tion to sell any wares, merchandise, goods or effect, including food stuffs~ at a price greater than the price Offered for sale on Firday, September l~th, 19~8. Section 3. RENTS: It shall be considered profi~.. teering for any person, persons, firm or corporation to charge a rental between now and the First day of J~nuary, A. D., 19~9, higher than the rental being charged on the Fourteenth day of September, A. D., 19~8o Section 4. LABOR: No person shall charge more than the regular price for labor per day which was the rate of pay on the Fourteenth day of September, A. D., 19~8. No person shall charge extra for overtime. Section 8. BUILDII~G ~ATERIALS: No person, persons, firm or corporation shall charge more than the regular price for building material of any character or descrip- tion that was charged on the Fourteenth day of September, A. D.~ 19~8. Section ~. Any person, persons, fir~ or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction be fined not more than Five ~undred Dollars (~$~0~.00) or by imprisonment not exceeding Thirty Days (30 days) or both such fine and imprisonment to be impsoed under the discretion of the Court. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BT T?~ BOARD OF TOV~N CO~ISSiONERS OF THE T0~?~TN OF BO~_7~TON, IN PAL~ BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the passage and adoption of the above and foregoing Ordinance is urgent and is essential to the immediate preservation of the public peace of such Totem of Boynton, in Palm Beach County, Florida, and that an emergency does exist for the immediate passage and adoption of such Ordinance. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF T0~J~ C0~NIS~ 0NERS OF TWE TOV~ OF BOYNTON, IN PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the abova and foregoing Ordinance, being an Emergency Ordinance, be, and the same hereby is, passed and adooted on this the 18th day of September~ A. D., 19~8, being a Regular ~eeting of the Board of Town Commissioners of the Town of Boynton, i,n Palm Beach County, Florida, and being the Neeting at which the same was introduced, and further that such Ordinance shalli~.become effective immediately.
