A RESOLUTION OF TPIE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, URGING THE L-EGISLATURE OF THE STATE
OF FLORIDA TO PASS LEGISLATION PERMITTING
PUBLIC IDENTIFICATION OFMINORS WHO ARE
SECOND OFFENDERS IN THE COMMISSION OF FELONIES.
WHEREAS, crime is rapidly increasing in the State of
Florida, as well as throughout the Nation at large; and
WHEREAS, the percentage of crimes committed by juveniles
i:s:~ increasing at an alarming rate; and
WHEREAS, the present laws of the State of Florida pro-
hibiting publication of the identity of youthful~criminals
encourages rather than deters criminal conduct by juveniles; and
WHEREAS, the publication of the identity of youthful of-
fenders would deter criminal activity and would enable the
public to protect themselves from such convicted criminals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
~ection 1. That they call upon the Legislature of the
State of Florida to enact legislation permitting the publica-
tion of the identity of minors regardless of age who have been
convicted of a second or successive felony.
Section 2. That copies of this Resolution be sent to all
m~mbers of the Palm Beach County Legislative Delegation, the
Governor of the State of Florida, and the members of the Cab-
inet of the State of Florida.
