A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OP BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE FLORIDA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION TO
EXPLAIN THE ELECTRIC PO~R RATES AND CHARGES.
WHEREAS, the Public Service Commission of the State of
Florida is entrusted with and exercises jurisdiction of the
rates and charges imposed by Florida Power and Light Company
upon citizens and users in the City of Boynton Beach, Florida;
and
WHEREAS, the greatly increased rates and charges have been
imposed with substantial discrepancies and inconsistencies among
users having similar consumption of electric power without
apparent logic~or reason; and
WHEREAS, an additional charge entitled "fuel adjustment
charge" has been imposed without explanation as to its basis
or method? of computation; and
WHEREAS, the citizens and users in said City are entitled to
an explanation as to the ever increasing charges and rates for
electrical power.
NOW, THEREFOP~, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section i: That the City Council of the City of Boynton
Beach, Floridaf hereby requests that the Public Service Commission
of the State of Florida explain to the citizens and users of
electric power in said City the methods and bases utilized in the
computations of rates and charges for electric power, including
but not limited to the so-called "fuel adjustment charge't which
has recently been added to the already increased rates and charge~
and that the explanations include clear-cut facts and figures in
understandable language.
Section 2: That true and certified copies of this Resolution
be furnished forthwith to the Public Service Commission of the
State of Florida, the Honorable Reubin O'D. Askew, Governor of
the State of Florida, Members of the Palm Beach County Legislative
Delegation, the Florida League of Cities, the Palm Beach County
Municipal League, the City Councils of other municipalities in
Palm Beach County, and Florida Power and Light Company.
