75-DDRESOLUTION NO'. '75-DD
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE STATE OFi FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE DIRECTIONAL
SIGNS ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 1-95.
WHEREAS, the future traffic on Interstate Highway 1-95
in the vicinity of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, shall
be heavily congested and of a high-speed nature, placing a
severe burden upon drivers of motor vehicles to anticipate
exits, on said highway and to make split second decisions in
regard thereto, thereby creating critical hazardous conditions;
and-
WHEREAS, in order to alleviate such hazardous conditions,
the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach deems it necessary
and essential that directional signs on Interstate Highway 1-95
be appropriately worded to provide travelers with sufficiently
correct information; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation presently
plans to provide a directional sign reading "Woolbright Road"
when in fact said road is correctly named and known as "S. W.
15th Avenue"; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach
further deems it necessary and essential that there also be
provided a directional sign indicating the location of the city
limits of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida.
NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
SeCtion 1: That the Department of Transportation of
the St'ate of Florida be and is hereby requested, with regard to
directional signs on Interstate Highway 1-95, to replace the
proposed signs stating "Woolbright Road", with directional
signs reading "S. W. 15th Avenue, City of Boynton Beach", and
to further provide directional signs to indicate the ~location
of the city limits of the City of Boynton Beach.
Section 2: That a true and certified copy of this
Resolution be furnished forthwith to the Department of Transpor-
tation of the State of Florida and to all other appropriate
authorities.
