A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF COUNTY ~COMMISSIONERS OF PALM
BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO CAUSE THE CONTINUATION OF
S. W. 15th AVENUE WESTWARD FROM THE 1-95 OVERPASS TO
CONGRESS AVENUE.
~EREAS, the construction of Interstate 1-95 in the
City of Boynton Beach, Florida, includes the construction of
an overpass for S. W. 15th Avenue, together with an interchange
at the intersection of 1-95 and S. W. 15th Avenue; and
WHEREAS, S. W. 15th Avenue is not completed west of the
said overpass, thereby creating a very grave and hazardous
condition for the movement of motor vehicular traffic because
of its severe limitations for ingress and egress; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City is highly
fearful that the failure of the said Board of County Commissioner~
to complete the continuation of S. W. 15th Avenue to Congress
Avenue may result in the withholding of Federal funding; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach,
Florida, deems it necessary and essential for the public safety
and welfare of the community for the continuation of S. W. 15th
Avenue as set forth hereinabove and further deems such needs
to be of a most emergent nature.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1 That the Board of County Commissioners ~
Palm Beach County, Florida, be and is hereby urgently requested
to take immediate action to cause the construction of the
continuation of S. W. 15th Avenue from its 1-95 overpass
westwardly to Congress Avenue in said City.
Section 2: That the said Board of County Commissioners
is strongly urged to recognize the very grave and hazardous
traffic conditions that will inevitably result in_the event.that
said continuation of S. W. 15th Avenue is not constructed in
the immediate'future~ and that the said Board of County
Commissioners is further urged to recognize the strong
possibility of the withholding of Federal funds unless S. W.
15th Avenue is continued as aforesaid.
Section 3: That true and certified copies of this
Resolution be furnished forthwith to the Board of County
Commissioners of Palm Beach County, F~orida, to the Honorable
William Medlen, County Commissioner, and to the State of Florida
Department of Transportation.
